SKULL CAVE
NOTE: NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH BROWN’S CAVE, APACHE CAVE, OR SKELETON CAVE.
HISTORY: Many people have confused Skull Cave with Brown’s Cave and Apache Cave. Actually there are just two caves. Skull Cave is a distinct and different cave, where Brown’s Cave and Apache Cave are one and the same. You will need to refer to those caves to obtain their history.
Skull cave was named so because of the many skeletons that were found in the cave when it was discovered by Jim Barkley back in the early 1900’s. The cave also contained numerous war clubs.
There is no established trail to the cave, but we have mapped out what we think to be the best route to the area. You will need a good 4 wheel drive and will have to hike about 6 miles. The very last part is over some very rough and steep terraine. Please be careful and safe. There is another route if you have a boat. We have marked the map where you can dock the boat and hike about 1 mile to the cave from the lake.
WHAT YOU GET IN THIS PACKAGE IS TWO TOPOGRAPHIC MAPS, GENERAL TRAVEL INSTRUCTIONS, AND THE GPS POINTS OF THE CAVE, THE ROUTE TO THE CAVE, AND A BOAT DOCKING GPS POINT.
